Mrs Rhodes
Mrs Rhode's portrait is drawn by Max (Year 3) in the style of Alphonse Mucha. (You can find out more about the artist at the bottom of this page.)
Mrs Rhodes is a Year 4 teacher and the English Leader at our school. We asked her some questions to find out more about her:
If you could be a character in a book, who would you be and why?
Roald Dahl’s Matilda, she has always been my favourite character (my daughter’s middle name is Matilda after the character) as she is so brave and I love that she can move things with the power of her mind!
If you could sit next to anyone (dead or alive) on a bench to chat to them, what would you ask them/chat about?
Emmaline Pankhurst, having taught about her in class, I have such an admiration for what she and the other suffragettes fought for. I would like to ask her what made her never give up. Life for us girls would be so very different if it hadn’t been for her.
If you could visit anywhere in the world for a day, where would you go and why?
Japan, I am fascinated by the buildings, the technology and the language.
Alphonse Mucha
Alphonse Mucha’s instantly recognisable works feature beautiful women with long tendrils of hair and flowing garments surrounded by decorative botanical motifs in delicate shades of peach, gold, ochre, and eau de Nil. The Czech artist originally found fame via his stunningly original poster designs for the legendary actress Sarah Bernhardt, but is best known today for his innovative advertisements, posters, and decorative works.
