Understanding Christianity Day
As a school we explored the idea of Incarnation in different ways leading up to Christmas.
At the end of the day we came together to share our learning.
Year 5 shared some dramatic sketches of how preparations for Christmas might look similar and different dependent on whether a family were Christian or not.
Year 3 performed a dance thinking about the Trinity. They worked in groups of three to create their dance, showing how three can come together to be one.
Year 6 challenged us to think about what kind of king Jesus was - they used the words humble, compassionate and generous several times, and wondered if we could show these traits through the Christmas period and beyond.
Year 4 wrote their own version of the 12 Days of Christmas linked to the Christmas story and the importance of Jesus being the 'Light of the world'.
The Reception children explored the Christmas story by building a stable for Jesus using lego, creating angels from paper, making Jesus in a manger with the playdough and they also completed a Christmas story trail in their outdoor area.
Year 1 children listened to the carol 'In the Bleak Midwinter' and thought about what gifts we could give to each other that didn't cost money to buy. They made a bauble for everyone as a gift with kindness, love, happiness etc. on them.
Year 2 brought our day to an end with a paperchain of prayers of gratitude, and shared a prayer with us all.
