Head Teacher's Welcome

     Headteacher's Welcome

Our Christian Vision:

Through teaching children what it means to 'Love your neighbour as yourself' (Matthew 22),        we strive to secure the foundations for happy, healthy individuals with the highest aspirations who can live life in all its fullness.

Daily reference to our Christian Values based on Bible teaching in our Collective Worship and in all that we do is central to how everyone is treated at Bishop's Tachbrook CE School.  Each half term we focus on one of these Christian values:

By 'sowing the seeds of our values' and teaching children, above all, to 'Love your neighbour as yourself', we aim to ‘reap the fruits of the spirit’ which are:  'Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control'  [1 Thessalonians 5 v18].

Visitors comment that the school has a very special feel. Please visit us and see for yourselves. Our curriculum provides memorable and exciting opportunities in a happy, healthy, safe environment while developing, in pupils, a life-long love of learning.

As a result of our teaching, excellent pastoral care and opportunities beyond the classroom such as after school clubs, competitive sports and our weekly Forest School, our children develop self belief, achieve their potential and are equipped for life in all its fulness. We are proud of our academic and sporting results and of the progress made by each individual child. We carefully and regularly track each child to make sure they are appropriately supported, nurtured and extended in their learning.

We welcome children from all backgrounds, faiths and cultures and teach children to respect and learn about the diversity of beliefs and customs both in our local community and in the world beyond, while teaching children about the Christian faith through our strong links with St. Chad's Church. Children, across the school, of all faiths (or no faith) are welcome to join our Collective Worship Committee, which meets to select the prayers, music and songs.  These are used every day with prayers written by our children to support each of our Christian values. Children not only take a lead in our daily Collective Worship, but also always lead the regular worship at St Chad's Church throughout the year.

Pupils are also specifically taught the British Values of democracy, respect, individual liberty and the rule of law through our daily assemblies as well as our curriculum.

Investment over recent years means that your child will enjoy learning in comfortable, well-equipped surroundings. As well as having two ICT suites, all classrooms have interactive white boards or SMART TVs and more recently  access to iPads (kindly paid for by our fabulous PTA ), so that teaching and learning can be most effective through the use of new technologies. The school’s playground, field and garden provide plenty of opportunity for sport, gardening, relaxation and play. We have  undertaken an exciting programme of re-development to further enhance the provision for play and learning indoors and out by improving the school grounds and extensively re-furbishing and extending the building.

The school is home to a Nursery, which provides sessional care for pre-school age children. We also are home to an Out of School Club (OOSC) to help parents whose lifestyles demand quality child care beyond the school day. This club is also open through certain holiday periods.
The best way to choose a school is certainly to see it in action and we are always pleased to show prospective families around on our Autumn Open Days or by appointment at other times.

We look forward to welcoming your family.
Yours sincerely,
Andy Brettell, Head Teacher
Chris Harper Chair of Governors
